A Shellabration Worth Beaching To

Beach enthusiasts, tomorrow is your day to celebrate the most anticipated day this year on Sanibel Island, Florida! On Friday morning at 10 am, hundreds will gather on Bowman's Beach on Sanibel Island to participate in the trying of the LARGEST pickup of seashells ever recorded in the Guinness Book of World Records: The Sanibel Stoop. Will YOU be there?---Sadly I am not able to be. Send me an email with some pictures if you attend and I'd love to feature them with a short story about your experience! If you participate you receive a free Tshirt, your name in the official Guinness Book of World Records, and a fabulous once in a lifetime experience!
The Shellabration lasts until March 4 celebrating 75 years of the Shell Fair and will be filled with exciting events to take part in. For those who have never been to Sanibel - you gotta go! The island's unique shape and East/West orientation position the land to stick out more into the Gulf of Mexico, thus allowing MORE SHELLS to scoop up! Visitors, shell collectors, and nautical crafters will be gathering together to display their art and products during the fair.

Besides the great shelling, we all love the relaxed coastal fashion when at the beach, so what greater way to experience the island fashion than to attend the Shell Couture fashion show on February 27 featuring locally created shell fashions "project runway" style?!

Shells I found last summer on my trip to Sanibel Island :)
