For the Love of Shells

The seas were rough in 2012 between the hurricanes, oil spills, climate change, and pollution debris from the tsunami. This year hopefully it's a calmer season, although we don't mind the turning of the open waters every now and then to bring in those keepsake shells that haven't been broken ;)

And what better way to get a head start on making a DIY coastal keepsake for someone special on Valentine's day then to use shells you've found on the sandy beaches you love the most!

Bundle up and get crafty by making a one-of-a-kind seashell heart wreath. Feature your favorite shells, or the favorites of your Valentine! Drill small holes into the top of the shells, and then attach to a wire frame or pre-made straw wreath.

Clam shells of any kind can be used to create this beautiful seashell wreath hung by juke string. Use a wire frame bent into the shape of a heart to use as a guide when attaching the shells together around the wire frame.

This seashell heart straw wreath was made so easily! All you have to do is purchase a pre-made wreath at Michaels, push a wire through a few strands of straw in the wreath for sturdy hanging, hot glue your favorite shells to the plastic wrap (make sure to layer your shells), and then gift to your Valentine with a special note or other lovely gifts!

Happy crafting!
